在学习英语的过程中，许多人往往会混淆下面两个单词：altogether和all together.

这两个英语单词，尽管读音一样，但含义却十分迥异。

Altogether

Altogether的含义是：完全的、彻底的（completely)

例如：

She wrote less and less often, and eventually she stopped altogether.她动笔的次数越来越少，最后完全停笔了。The government ought to abolish the tax altogether.政府应该彻底取消这一税收。

All together

All together的含义是：一起、共同（with each other），跟together的意思类似。

例如：

Put your clothesall togetherin one pile and Ill wash them for you. 把你的衣服都堆在一起，我来洗。

错误：Not:Put your clothes altogether in one pile…

Waiter（服务员）:Are youall together? 你们是一起的吗？

Customer（顾客）:Yes. Can you do a table for five?是的，能帮我们安排一张5人桌吗？
