1. 通常位于句中的实义动词之前，特殊动词之后。如：
He hardly looked at it 他几乎没看它。
He can hardly be right. 他不大可能是对的。
有时将 hardly 置于句首（为较正式的用法），此时其后应跟倒装句式。如：
Hardly do I know him. 我几乎不认识他。
Hardly could he wait to hear the news. 他迫不及待要听这消息。
但是，若修饰主语则不用倒装。如：
Hardly anybody was there. 那里几乎没有人。
