1. 用作副词,表示“也许”,表不确定语气,常位于句首,有时也放在句中或句末。如:
Perhaps we’ll find him at the hotel. 也许我们会在旅馆里找到他。
This is perhaps the best dish in this restaurant. 这也许是这个餐馆最好的菜。
You’d better go now, perhaps. 也许你最好现在去。
2. 可用于省略句中,尤其是简略答语中。如:
A:Will he lend us the money? 他会借钱给我们吗?
B:Perhaps so (not). 也许会(不会)吧。
3. 用于Perhaps you would…句式,意为“是否可以请你……”“请你……好吗”。如:
Perhaps you wouldtake this suitcase for me. 你给我拿一下这个手提箱行吗。
Perhaps you would be kind enough to open the door.
